Well last night when I got home I went for a walk, took some pictures and used the geo logger to track my distance and time, I’ll upload that tonight sometime when I get home. It wasn’t bad..

This morning however I didnt’ get out of bed until 7:45, chucked on some clothes and ran out of the house for my walk. God damn was it chilly.. Took the camera and the geo logger with me again, I think I’m going to take that with me everytime just incase I see something interesting. It was too cold for me to bust out the SLR this morning so I’m going to upload a picture of a cool house I took with my crackberry.

I’ve been thinking about getting myself a dog lately.. I’m interested in a Scottish Terrier, cute little guys and they don’t get too big so they’ll fit my apartment. The problem is that I’m a lazy fucker.. 5 mile hike, I’m out.. hotdog eating contest, I’m listenin’…

So after much discussion with friends I’ve decided to set myself a challenge. Today April 16th begins my 3 month walking challenge. The stipulations are these.

• During the week Wake up at 7AM, Dress and go for a half an hour walk minimum.
• Arrive home from work at 6PM, go for a half an hour walk minimum.
• Maintain the same schedule of walking on the weekends (Saturday & Sunday) times are flexible.
• By July 16th lose 15 pounds walking.

If I can maintain this schedule, I’ll start looking more into getting myself a dog. I’m going to document on the blog how everything is going, I’m going to take my digital camera with me and try and get some interesting photos during the walks.

I’m hoping that I’ll eventually start bumping up the length of the walk naturally without any pressure from anyone else, but we’ll see. I know for a fact that getting up in the morning is going to be tough as hell, I’m a horrible horrible morning person and I stay up too late at night so I’ve gotta work on getting into bed earlier and getting to sleep, hopefully the exercise from the walks will help with that.

So it’s getting towards the end of the day at the office, I’ve got that kind of half awake floaty feeling when you’re pretty tired and I’ve still gotta go out to Century Grill and meet a vendor for dinner… I want to go home and sleep, but I’ve never been to Century Grill and the guy we deal with for this vendor is a really nice guy who’s down from Calgary, so I’m going to try and tough it out and then get home for a snooze.

I had to do a rushed move out last week, out old place started flooding, I still need to clear out a storage room, it’s stuffed full of our bikes and some empty boxes so it shouldn’t take long, but I’ve been putting it off.. Hopefully I have enough energy to do some of that tonight, we’ll just have to wait and see.

So one of the advantages of being the youngest person working in the Administration area is that I end up getting free cookies from time to time. I guess some of the ladies at the office must think I’m too  much of a bachelor at times, but hey, free cookies!

So today while I’m working trying to resolve some issues on our SQL Server a novel I ordered arrive. Emergency: This Book Will Save Your Life by Neil Strauss is a novel about surviving in a world without all the creature comforts we’re all so accusomed too. It’s a book about how to become a real life Jason Bourne.

It opens with Neil being taught how to butcher a goat, it’s not something he’d have ever thought about doing before he started this book the prologue ends with ‘I never thought the day would come when I’d have to make a backup plan.’ It seems like an interesting book so far and if it’s nothing but a good read it’ll be worth the money.

Man, it’s -32 degrees celsius at the moment, which is -26 fahrenheit.  My new car is so stiff, the entire drive to work it was complaining about low tire pressure and I supposedly have nitrogen in my tires, it didn’t stop until I got into the parkade. Man, why did we move here from Scotland…

I’m sick today. I’ve done nothing but sleep and watch Brisco County Jr. on the media pc, it’s good old campy fun and good for being sick.

We’ve got a scheduled change window tomorrow so I’ve gotta be good for working late.

At work we’re attempting to test out thin clients/xp embbeded devices. We’ve got a couple of test units and we’re trying to figure out which software works the best, VMware View or XenDesktop. We’re trying to use it in a couple of different roles, internally on the corporate network and remotely for offsite users/telecomputing.

We’re having performance issues with View for an application we use, it’s just not running smoothly enough and XenDesktop is a bear to setup, much more complicated than View. At the moment neither piece seems to totally meet the requirements of the POC we’ve setup. We’re having connection issues with XenDesktop, this could be a problem with the way the Provisitoning server is configured and the way the shared disk is configured, I’m not really sure which.

This POC has been ongoing since the middle of December and we haven’t moved very far forward.
